Residual Component Analysis

چکیده
Probabilistic principal component analysis (PPCA) seeks a low dimensional representation of a data set in the presence of independent spherical Gaussian noise, Σ = σI. The maximum likelihood solution for the model is an eigenvalue problem on the sample covariance matrix. In this paper we consider the situation where the data variance is already partially explained by other factors, e.g. covariates of interest, or temporal correlations leaving some residual variance. We decompose the residual variance into its components through a generalized eigenvalue problem, which we call residual component analysis (RCA). We show that canonical covariates analysis (CCA) is a special case of our algorithm and explore a range of new algorithms that arise from the framework. We illustrate the ideas on a gene expression time series data set and the recovery of human pose from silhouette.

THE MEAN RESIDUAL LIFETIME OF PARALLEL SYSTEMS WITH TWO EXCHANGEABLE COMPONENTS UNDER THE GENERALIZED FARLIE-GUMBEL-MORGENSTERN MODEL
The parallel systems are special important types of coherent structures and have many applications in various areas. In this paper we consider a two-exchangeable-component parallel system for the Generalized Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (Generalized FGM) distribution. We study the reliability properties of the residual lifetime of the system under the condition that both components of the system ar...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Study of Residual Stress Measurement and Thickness Distribution of T-shape Steel Tube Produced by Tube Hydroforming
Tube hydroforming (THF) process is used to produce the complex components from the initial cylindrical tubes. In this paper, T- shape component was formed using a tube hydroforming machine and the residual stresses of hydroformed tube was determined by hole drilling method. Subsequently, the thickness distribution and residual stresses of final tube were investigated using experimental and fini...

متن کاملI / RESIDUAL STRESS DISTRIBUTION IN FeAl WELD OVERLAY ON STEEL
Neutron diffraction was used to measure the residual stress distribution in an FeAl weld overlay on steel. It was found that the residual stresses accumulated during welding were essentially removed by the post-weld heat treatment that was applied to the specimen; most residual stresses in the specimen developed during cooling following the post-weld heat treatment. The experimental data were c...
متن کاملEffect of phase transformation strain on residual stress analysis results of multi pass bead on plate specimen
The weld pass sequence generally affects residual stress profiles. In this study, the residual stress profiles of bead on plate specimens were analytically and experimentally examined. The material used in this study was the low alloy steel SQV2A (JIS G 3120), which is equivalent to ASTM A533. Phase transformation usually occurs around the welded area in SQV2A and also affects the residual stre...
